Welcome to the A to Z blogging challenge where for the month of April we post everyday except Sundays, corresponding to each letter of the alphabet. I’ve chosen to blog about keeping the romance alive in a relationship along with ideas for married couple dates. Each post will also have a romantic song for you to listen to whilst you read.
Today’s song choice is the Bangles – Eternal Flame.
B is for beaches – not the film, but that would be a great one to watch if you wanted to see each other cry. No, I mean the sandy ones that are perfect for long walks, picnics, beachcombing, and just sitting in the sun together.

I know some of you are now saying that you don’t live near a beach, and I’m going to tell you that it’s not a problem. Before we were married we both lived in London and there wasn’t a beach close to us, so I had to improvise. For one of our at home dates I bought inexpensive posters of tropical scenes, cooked something you would have on holiday in a warm place, and made cocktails with umbrellas in them – our own personal evening at the beach.
If you do live near a beach make sure you use it. It can be too easy to let life get in the way and you don’t take the time to enjoy the natural beauty on your doorstep. Walking along a beach together can be incredibly therapeutic and restorative, time together just being a couple. On our new years day walk this year we saw a young man propose to his girlfriend on the beach, which was beautiful.

Another great thing to do at the beach is to bring out your inner child and build sand castles together, or you can each build one and have a competition to see whose is the best. The below two are ones we built many years ago in Tasmania and after taking these photos we got my parents to pick the winner without knowing who had built which one – my beloved came out victorious.
Why don’t you make a beach date together soon, even if you never leave home to do it.

I would go to the beach to build sand castles which is pretty much the only thing I like about beaches but I really do not like beaches. I wouldn't mind hanging out at the beach if I'm with someone.have a lovely day.

Pamela,We aren't much of the beachy kind of people. It's nice to visit once every 20+ years but we prefer the beauty and tranquility of the Smoky mountains. Your accommodating song \”Eternal Flame\” fits purrfectly today! Happy A2Zing!Yโall are invited to visit my all-in-one mewsic, sparks, & a2z post on Curious as a Cathy! ๐

I am loving your posts. Makes me feel happy and cosy. Another of my old favourite songs. I am playing it now as I write my next post. I am not looking at the beach photos because I need to wait another couple of months before I can go on a vacation!Bodylicious @ Namysaysso

Gotta love the beach! I live in southern California, but am at least an hour away from the nearest beach, so it does take some scheduling to get there (especially if you prefer to avoid the crowds). Of course, once we do we always wonder why we don't go more often! I've collected some lovely shells and sand dollars there, giving our home a bit of a beachy theme โ along with my husband's silly shark pillows. ;DHappy A to Z-ing!

I love the beach. I grew up two blocks from the mediterranean waters and the beaches were the ones you took long walks on leaving footprints :)Here is my letter B Response

In my office, I have a wooden sign which reads: My heart is at the beach. The sight and sound of surf heals a myriad of troubles.

I have lots of beachy finds dotted around the home as well, and my beloved has started collecting driftwood. If we had our own garden I'm sure that would be full of bits as well.

This midwest girl is far from a real beach. My husband did have a load of sand brought in for the end of our little pond and as soon as it warms up a bit, I think we will have a picnic and build a castle (before the bull frogs and snapping turtles move in to the pond)! Wow, that was a really long sentence…

What a special theme…wonderful to see LOVE in a marriage. It's true, the beach is romantic when you share it with the one you love. Lots of beaches in our 52 year marriage…Hawaii on R&R, Beach Volleyball in California, Boardwalk in New Jersey, Galveston and Padre Island in Texas. If you are ever in Texas…don't miss Padre Island Beach and Margaritas with umbrellas.Sue at CollectInTexas Gal

I think you should definitely build a sand castle before nature takes over. We can make our own beaches.

Ocean sounds are a definite. I think I might have to do that date again soon, even though we now live near the beach.
