It’s the end of another week and time for some fill ins that are set by Annie at McGuffy’s Reader and Ellen at 15andmeowing.com – why don’t you come and join us. The words in purple are the prompts that are provided and then the rest is me.
1. My favorite Dr. Seuss book is Green Eggs and Ham.
2. The most interesting person I have ever met is really difficult to choose so I’m going to have to go with two. The first is an elderly gentleman who fought in the second world war in the desert campaigns – I looked after him in Tasmania and he was so fascinating to talk to, and would share lots of things about his life. When he found out that I was going to work in the Middle East he got very animated and we talked for ages about customs and religion. I often think about this patient, even though it is twenty six years since I knew him.
The second person is an elderly gentleman that lived in the nursing home next to the secondary college I went to. Sometimes during free classes two of us would go over to the home to talk to the residents and on about my second visit I met Carl and after we talked for a while he realised that he knew my dad when he was growing up, so from then on I would go across and chat to Carl and play cards with him.
I think that we find out the most interesting things when we stop and listen to other peoples stories – everyone has something interesting to tell if we just give them the time.
3. Besides books by Dr. Seuss, my favourite book as a child was actually a series by Susan Cooper called The Dark is Rising. It’s a fantasy series set in England and Wales that includes aspects of Arthurian legend and mythology. I love these books and still reread them every few years.
4. Lately, I have been working on not catching any of the bugs that have been going around. Lots of people have been coming down with colds and chest infections and so far I have been lucky enough to escape them.

We his humble servants are wrapped around his little paw, whilst Princess Cookie Cat sits in her gilded tower glaring and growling at the young upstart. I go to as many as I can visit. I feel that these are people. They should be validated. They mattered, and still do in time. But…I agree. Hey Pamela. I envy you for being in a climate that you get to experience the autumn colors. Here in Texas! It's green all year around. It goes from green leaves for spring, summer and fall to no leaves for winter. Very boring. I grew up in western New York and so miss the changing of the seasons. That's interesting about your experience at the church. I had one a long time ago that was definitely a sign meant for me but at the time I was too dumb to realize it. I realized it later though. I had been dating this guy –young and in love, you know how that goes. Anyway we had a big fight and I just felt a need to be close to God so I asked him to pull into the church parking lot. Fortunately the doors were unlocked so we went into the sanctuary and sat in a pew. All of the sudden this guy jumped up and ran out of the church. I went out after him and he was throwing up in the parking lot. Wish I would've realized the sign then: he ended up being a sociopath and I went through hell with him, also my family. There ended up being 5 prosecutor hearings and 2 court dates and a lot of stalking and harassment. The detective on the case told me I was lucky I wasn't stuffed into a trunk! When I looked back on everything, there were many signs that I just ignored…or was just too dumb to realize. That night in the church: I realized that his evil wasn't welcome there and that's what caused him to get so violently sick so quickly. At least that's how I now interpret it. That was over 30 years ago. And unbelievably, he popped back up in my life a few years ago and continues to send me birthday and Christmas cards, professing his love for me. It's very disturbing. Of course I don't respond but I keep all the cards in case anything ever happens to me. He lives over 1500 miles away so I doubt he'll ever show up. I hope not anyway. My psychic told me he would definitely pose a danger to me if he were to show up. So weird that this guy popped up all these years later….Anyway, I definitely believe in psychic phenomenon and spirits, both good and malevolent. And for sure I know I have Angels around me all the time. Everyone does. it's really cool when you can recognize their presence. Have a great weekend. I help out at the psychic fairs 4 times a year and also am his assistant at some of his psychic development classes. I'm sure you guys have something fun and interesting planned for the weekend. I agree with you about sleeping with open closet doors, they just seem to be the perfect hiding spot for lurking monsters, I don't put my hands under the bed at night either! Childhood habits are hard to break! :-)I haven't been around a piano to play in about thirty years, I doubt if my brain and fingers could still remember how, but I used to love it very much, it was great relaxation therapy. Home with the ones we love is always the warmest, best place on a winter night. Who wants to go out in the cold when there is all that love at home?We never stop missing the furry little souls who have departed for the rainbow bridge, we think of them often, and I like to believe they stop by for a visit now and then. Pam,I laughed just a bit at #1 because sometimes I get a little wigged out to put my feet over the side of the bed at night. One never knows what's under there? I took a few piano classes as a kid and this one of life's regrets wishing I had stuck with it but I didn't. 😦 What I enjoy doing on winter nights is snuggling with DH on the sofa watching movies while drinking hot tea/chocolate or coffee. This really knocks the chill off ya! It's painful loosing a furbaby. Maybe one day, you can write that farewell. Thanks for sharing your fill-ins. I read Green Eggs and Ham to my son so many times when he was small that I had it memorized! Such fun books to read! I agree with you that everyone has an interesting story if we just take the time to visit with them. Asking people questions about their lives is my most favorite thing to do. So far I have managed to escape the bugs going around too, and I hope we both stay clear of them, there are some nasty ones this year!
